Patriotic Wreath {Pinterest Craft}

I have been on the hunt for the perfect Patriotic wreath for quite some time. One look through Pinterest or Tip Junkie and you find dozens of designs and styles, but I was looking for something special that would pay homage to our beautiful flag and incorporate the colors red white and blue in perfect harmony. When my good friend Stacy posted her beautiful wreath, I knew I’d found the one I was looking for (thanks Stacy!)! I searched and found this link for making it and even better, I already had most of the ingredients. A few dollars later and an emergency run to Target for more pins and my wreath was DONE! Really, it was that simple. Here’s the finished product: A great looking wreath brings me a burst of happiness each time I see it. Give it a...

Cool Library Days

Speaking of books – this is my go to place for the latest reads and old favorites. Growing up I can recall many pleasant hours spent hunting for books in the library near our home. It became a place of familiar wandering…sifting through choices as varied as the colors in the rainbow. My siblings and I would leave with stacks of books: Ramona Quimbys, Mishmash (about a dog), this one series aout twin sisters who had all kinds of adventures and those great choose an ending books where you got to decide how it all went down. The kids and I are creating our own library memories every week. My oldest daughter is into the Candy Fairie series and I adore seeing her munch through these sweet little books. My oldest is still poring over Star Wars and my second...

Here’s what’s on my list so far this summer: My son and I have been reading the Rick Riordan books together, but he got ahead of me on this one. Time to catch up. Trying out Jodi for Book Club. Preparing to be swept back into the world of the Shadow Hunters in the prequel. I’ve been waiting for the whole series to come out because I know the minute I start I’m going to need the next book RIGHT NOW! So what’s on your summer reading list?        ...

Summer Salad {Recipe}

The heat is on in a major way here in Vegas. Whenever this happens, I try to avoid cooking. It doesn’t happen because for some reason my hard working husband and four little munchkins think they need to eat three times a day! It’s ridiculous around here! This yummy salad has been known to save the day when I don’t feel like turning on the oven. We bring it to picnics in the park and munch on it around the dinner table. Give it a try and let me know what you think.   Broccoli Grape Salad 4 c. raw broccoli, stemmed and broken 1/4 c. green onions, diced 1/2 c. raisins 1/2 c. almonds, slivered 1 c. celer, diced 1 c. green grapes 1 c. red grapes 6-8 slices bacon, cooked and broken Dressing:  1/4 c. sugar 1 T. Vinegar 1 c. Mayo Instructions: Mix...
