More about Royal Oak Automatic 33mm Aventurine Dial Diamonds RARE

This is a yellow gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, 14587BA. It has an integral yellow gold link bracelet with a yellow gold deployant buckle. The solid 33mm by 43mm diameter three-body strongbox case is polished and brushed, with an octagonal diamond set bezel screwed down by 8 hexagonal nuts; the case back is also secured by 8 screws. It has downturned integral stainless lugs, a screwed-down stainless bi-directional hexagonal winding crown, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The dial is a bluish black aventurine with diamond hour index markers and gold Royal Oak baton hands. There is an aperture for the date at the 3 o'clock position, a power reserve of 40 hours at full wind, and it's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet. The 8.6mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The automatic Audemars Piguet caliber 2140 movement is rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 31 jewels and a shock absorber mechanism. It includes a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance with variable inertia blocks, and a self-compensating flat balance-spring. It has a 22K gold monobloc oscillating weight and the bevels on the bridges are diamond graved. It has a stop balance for setting the time, and the balance wheel oscillates at 28,800 vph (4 Hz). Audemars Piguet introduced the Royal Oak at the Basel Fair in 1972. It had a radically new shape and was designed by master horologist Gérald Genta. It was named after the legendary oak tree in which Charles II of England hid from his enemies, the Roundheads.
