What I’ve Been Reading
Hi… my name is Christene…and I’m a read-a-holic.
It’s true, I have a problem I’m willing to admit but very little drive to overcome.
I LOVE reading. It’s a balm to my soul when I’m stressed over unchangeable things. It’s a vacation when money is tight. It’s a door to my imagination and a guide to my intelligence. I find it to be a pure pleasure.
In the last week I’ve spent more than one night curled up with a book until the wee hours of the night. I’m sure my husband is thinking I need an intervention, but you’ll be so proud to know I’ve pulled off a birthday party, cleaned the house, made dinner, gone school shopping and met teachers all at the same time. It’s only sleep who missed my long embrace.
Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been reading:
I got to chat with the lovely author of this book – a woman with four children (like me) and a delightful kindness that filled me with hope. Hope of what I could be as I work through this process. She even let me snap a picture with her. And signed my book. And answered my eager questions without thinking I was a silly girl.
If you’d like to peek at my review of Edenbrooke, just click on this link. When I’d devoured her book and handed it off to a friend, I went on to The Clockwork Prince, the second in the Infernal Devices Trilogy by Cassandra Clare…
My review is here. Once you’ve read the book you will understand why I’m hunting up the details of her final installment. I’m still completely torn in my heart over the whole situation with Jem, Will and Tessa. Waiting is the worst!
So now you know. I have a problem. Yet my problem is an odd blessing – it drives my love for writing and delightfully colors my vision of the world I live in.
What have you been reading these last days of summer?
