This is a platinum Cartier Tonneau Large Model WGTN0005. It includes an alligator leather strap with a platinum ardillon tang buckle and a curved scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a beaded pull-out winding crown set with a 0.34 carat ruby cabochon and a solid case back secured with 4 screws and engraved with "CARTIER – MECANIQUE – WATER RESISTANT – SWISS MADE – - PT 950 - 4200," hallmarks and a serial number. The 46.3mm by 23mm barrel-shaped tonneau two-body case, screwed lugs, and flat faceted curved bezel, are polished. The dial is silver-grey sunrise guilloche with large black Roman numeral hour markers around an inner black minute scale. It includes blued Poire "apple" hands with skeletonized circular indicators and the secret Cartier signature is incorporated into the VII. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 38-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 7.8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Cartier Tonneau Large Model WGTN0005 has a mechanical manual winding Cartier caliber 1917 MC movement. It's rhodium plated and it's constructed with 19 jewels, an anti-shock system, and a monometallic balance adjusted for temperature and 5 positions. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). The Cartier Tonneau Large Model WGTN0005 is a re-edition and was introduced in the 2000's in a limited number of examples.
