{Recipe} 15-minute Lasagna

Congratulations to Lindzee for winning the signed copy of The House at Rose Creek by Jenny Proctor! I’ve been a little MIA lately due to Disneyland, Memorial Day, a birthday tossed into the fixings and then this wonderful teasing thing called Summer Vacation. We start soon…I can taste it! But we still have a couple days filled with award ceremonies, blatant flash photography and trying to get out the door on time. In the meantime, I had to share a little something with you. Last night I made a dinner I think needs to be in your hands. It’s DELISH and even though we ate it like a herd of rhinos on stampede (grabbing a bite before rushing out for the preschool graduation) it was amazing and simple. How many times do those descriptors come together over a LASAGNA...

A Little Inspiration

Kay, so last Friday I got some good news, good news that had me up until 2am writing and revising like crazy to get a query letter and first ten pages as good as I possibly could before my brain turned to complete sleep deprived mush. You see, I’m going to this Conference in a couple weeks…ten days to be exact (not that I’m counting!!!). When I signed up for LDStorymakers, my goal was to register the moment I could in order to be a part of these awesome new Agent Workshops they’re having this year. What’s so cool about an Agent Workshop? you might ask. Of course this is a good question, one I am happy to explain to you. Instead of a 10 minute, nail biting, make-it-or-break-it session with your proposed agent, several agents are...

For Moi?

Talking about love brings a myriad of emotions. We think of our sweethearts, our hearts tug when we consider our little munchkins, friends, siblings, parents…they all make the list ahead of one person. YOU! Am I right? Loving ourselves is often unfairly forced to wrestle with the concept of selfishness and narcissism. We avoid taking care of ourselves while “waiting for Superman to lift us up and show us love.” Is it no wonder we end up resentful, depleted and generally disappointed. This leaves our sweeties feeling increasingly confused as to HOW to love us when we refuse to love ourselves and (heaven forbid!) ask for what we need. This is the place I spend a lot of my time, and I’m in rehab. Rehab for forgetting myself. A twelve step program...

Letting Go

Do you ever have a hard time following your bliss? Is it a series of excuses and obligations that you made before you realized what you were truly meant to do with your life, and now…you just don’t know how to let go of what WORKS for what breathes LIFE into your soul? For me, it’s saying NO to the comfortable familiarity of the knowns. With five little people trying to tell me what to do and where to be, my time to work on my craft is extremely limited. Well, if I want to sleep and eat and maybe use the restroom once in a while. And let’s establish that I do. So I’m faced with decision and making changes. We’ve already talked about the fact that I over think (right? You know this about me…), therefore, every decision becomes a back...

Weekend Inspiration

A New Year has begun. 2014 is going to be...

Setting Goals

The end of an old year has often inspired me to mentally take stock, clean out the old closets, as it were, and set out in a new direction for the new year. As a child, my goals were often disorganized and haphazard with no real direction on how to get from A to B. As I’ve matured, I’ve learned the importance of writing something down, visualizing, keeping things simple and realistic and moving one little step at a time. 2014 promises to be a huge year for my writing goals. I’ve got a lot up my sleeve and I can’t wait to share it with you in the weeks to come. I hope you’re setting down some goals too. The new year will pass in a blink, just as this one did, and you will be so happy with yourself when you reach the final days of 2014...
