Gingerbread in the House

Every year I host a crazy Gingerbread House decorating party. I mix up a huge batch of gingerbread dough (oh yes I do! No graham cracker houses in this ‘hood!), cut out all the pieces, glue them together with frosting and await with anticipation the arrival of some of  my favorite people. They come in with bags of candy, hugs and smiles. Some bring their own fancy cake plates, because they know how it’s done. We all decorate for hours while nibbling quiche, fruit salad in Christmas colors and a delicious breakfast cake. This is what I ended up with this year:   One year my house was featured on Whipperberry.com and I Heart Naptime with all the recipes you’ll need for your own little Gingerbread fun. I hope you take the dive and make your...

Oreo Cheesecake Bites { Recipe }

Made these tasty bites from Mels Kitchen Cafe last weekend for a party. The recipe is super easy and the results…delish! Head on over to Mels’ for the complete details on these yummy little confections for your holiday party!

Dripping in Sugar {Recipe}

This weekend, we spent some much needed family time, soaking in good words and wonderful music. Saturday I made up a batch of these sweet little confections. They’re the overnight variety from this wonderful little place called Our Best Bites. I let the kids help a little, but cooking is kind of therapeutic for me…so I tend to get absorbed and it’s tough to balance their curiosity with my perfectionism. Don’t get me wrong, there’s lots of teaspoon pouring, kid mixing, egg cracking goodness in this house for my little ones. But sometimes, you just need to cook without any ‘help’. The next morning, while we were gathering our notebooks and setting out treats to help the kids tune in, these babies were rising, then...

Baked Southwestern Egg Rolls {Recipe}

They are perfectly portioned, full of yummy and healthy ingredients, baked (not fried) and easy for little fingers (and big ones) to pluck off the tray and enjoy. Baked Southwestern Egg Rolls   Annie of Annie’s Eats is adorable and her recipe for these egg rolls looks simple and tasty. It includes delicious portions of corn, black beans and spinach along with a tasty array of spices. Have some sour cream and homemade salsa on hand and you’re good to go. Give it a try! And say, what do you like to bring to a...

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins {Recipe}

I’ll admit I’m a bit of a nut for anything pumpkin during this time of year. It just seems to breathe Fall and all the things that are wonderful about this season – like birthdays of wonderful people, leaves that magically change colors and the hint of cold that sneaks into the air and bites at your cheeks in the morning. I adore everything about Fall! So when I found this recipe on Pinterest, I knew I had to check it out and then share it with you! Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins Not just delicious to munch, but good for you too, thanks to Taralee’s tweaking. Go check out the recipe on Undressed Skeleton. What one ingredient says FALL to...

White Chocolate Cinnamon Pretzels {Recipe}

While searching for something great to hand out as a Thank You gift at my Book Release Party on October 5, 2012, I came across these delicious nibbles. White Chocolate Cinnamon Pretzels….yum! They sound super easy to whip up and would look so dainty and sweet in a little cellophane bag cinched with ribbon. I should probably make a sample batch just to be sure they’re up to snuff. I think I could find some willing testers, don’t you? Go visit Lizzy at Your Cup of Cake for the recipe. Tell her I sent...
