Cookies for Writers {Family Recipe}

I spent Saturday at UNLV with a group of promising new writers eager to learn more about Tom Bird’s method. I think my favorite part was meeting and visiting with these new friends and talking to them about the books they hope to write. With Tom’s help I know they can realize their dreams. Having been in their shoes only a few shorts years ago, I feel a special kinship to those looking for a way to write from their heart and find success.

As part of the fun I brought homemade cookies in these little Book Page Cookie Pockets. There’s nothing like a little literary yumminess to inspire you. I love using book pages for things. For this project I used two medium sized book pages, folded them down the middle and sewed the sides together on a large zigzag to make a pocket.

Easy Peasy and so cute! On the front I stapled some info about our upcoming Write Your Book in a Weekend Retreat.

I was pleasantly suprised by the rave reviews that these homemade goodies got. They’re a favorite around here. I promised to post the recipe for my friends from the Writing Class and for all of you who may be looking for a tried and true, absolutely delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie. This is the recipe I have been making since I was a little girl. It’s been memorized and tweaked to our liking. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Christene’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/3 c. oil

1/2 c. sugar

1 egg

1 t. vanilla

1/2 t. baking soda

1/2 t. salt

1/3 c. semi sweet chocolate chips

1 c. flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a mixing bowl, combine oil and sugar. Add egg and vanilla and mix until combined. Add salt and soda and mix. Add chocolate chips and stir and then add flour mixing until completely combined. Scoop out onto a cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes for small cookies and 10-12 minutes for large cookies. Makes 24 small cookies or 12 large cookies.

Enjoy!

{I’m linking up this project. If you’re here from one of the linkys, stick around and enjoy some of my short stories. Thanks for coming!}

    I think it is fabulous that you are so passionate about Tom and writing. I need to find some of that passion myself. Thank you for the inspiration.
